WHY TALK ABOUT THE WEATHER?

UNDER YOUR PANTS

April 15, 2008 · Leave a Comment

tonight i made an edition of 13 pages for a collaborative bookmaking project themed around the phrase “under your pants.”

this phrase, chosen by the majority of my peers, left me befuddled and wanting to stay away from making the page with a sexual twist; which was how most people seemed to be approaching the project.

so, having utilized my immature 5 year old sense of humor, below are three views of the end product.

the page is themed around the childish bet (and easy money maker) that claims one has “your name” tattooed on one’s derrière.

the jean pocket opens to find a tag (attached by hemp to the belt loop) that reads “i bet you $5 i have your name tattooed on my butt.” below the pocket is an authentic hole with an authentic view of authentic boxer shorts under it. inside of the jeans themselves (which is an enveloped page) is a beautifully framed picture of a butt with “your name” (encased in a heart) tattooed on it.

the text of the jean’s label reads “original 1 pocket page | under your pants | quality goods | a page by matt olin | no. __ of __.” and the page, as a whole, measures 5×9 inches and is printed on card stock using both ink jet and laser jet printers. the authentic boxer shorts are made of 1.5 inch squares of fabric from authentic boxer shorts.

this is 1 in an edition of 13 pages.

here’s to being a kid.
